Heide Göttner-Abendroth, researcher of matriarchat says about the spirituality of matriarchal cultures:
“The term of divinity is immanent since the whole world is seen as feminine, that is feminine divine. This is underlined by the ancient imaginations of the Goddess as a universe, the one, who is creating, as well as Mother Earth bringing forth all of life. Therefore everything is divine, each woman and each man, the smallest stone and the largest star.”
Matriarchal cultures are deeply spiritual and need no name for the all encompassing energy of the feminine since names establish borders and describe only part of the whole. Matriarchal spirituality is a complex view of the world seeing the Goddess as organising power, showing herself as wisdom in all people and all things. SHE is omnipresent in her creation and not just symbolises life – SHE is life. SHE is the one creating out of herself everything anew – SHE is the Mother.
She is space, time, heaven, earth, order, wisdom – even within us – in each woman, in each man.
The return to this type of experiencing of the world within a patriarchal society needs a change of paradigm.

Ten yeas after the proclamation of the millennium of the woman we share and honour our experiences with the political dimension of feminine spirituality in this international meeting. We strengthen our solidarity and confirm our workings as -

Young one, just born and capable of all inventions
Mother, who solves herself out of the network holding you
Old woman, Crone keeper of the key and the one to whom all things will return.

My ego is a Goddess
I recognise myself only within her
Since I am the earth beneath my feet
And the sky above me
I know the brightness
I know the darkness
- the yearning is silenced - the yearning speaks
